Biography

Dr. Sudeshna Chatterjee is an urbanist, researcher, and planning and development professional. She is recognized globally for her efforts in creating inclusive, resilient, and child-friendly cities and communities and for advocating the inclusion of child and youth perspectives in urban policies, planning, and urbanization processes. Dr. Chatterjee co-led the first corporate evaluation of UNICEF's Work for Children in Urban Settings across all UNICEF programming countries and was instrumental in framing the UN system-wide “Global Principles and Guidance of Public Spaces for Children,” along with a compendium of 50 case studies from 35 countries, represented on behalf of UNICEF, WHO, and UN-Habitat. Additionally, Sudeshna is a member of the executive board of the International Play Association (IPA-World) and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of IPA’s flagship publication, Play Rights magazine.
