Escaping Your Comfort Zone
PitchFEST Workshop 6.3: Creating More Active Community Environments
Biography
Richelle Olsen is the Executive Officer of Bushwalking Victoria (BWV), the peak body representing bushwalking and hiking across Victoria, supporting over 55 volunteer-led clubs. She is also the founder of Escaping Your Comfort Zone (EYCZ), a body-positive women’s adventure community with more than 5,000 members across Australia. EYCZ is built on the philosophy: “The outdoors don’t care about your size, your pace or your fitness—and neither do we!”
Richelle is passionate about reshaping perceptions of what it means to be an "adventurous person," championing inclusivity and representation in outdoor spaces for those who choose to prioritise joy and connection over speed or distance.
In 2025, Richelle partnered with Outdoors Victoria to launch SIDE-BY-SIDE NATURE WALKS, an intergenerational pilot program bringing together young women (18–25) and older women (55+) to enhance physical activity and social connection, ultimately supporting better health and wellbeing.
She is a firm advocate for the power of nature as our ultimate facility—for recreation, for connection, and for lifelong wellbeing.
