Beca
Impact Keynote 2: Environmental Sustainability for Leisure Facilities
Biography
Nick is a building services engineer with over 15 years of experience specialising in the engineering design and operation of aquatic facilities. Nick’s career has been dedicated to making everyday better, working collaboratively with clients across Australasia on over 200 facilities. Aquatic facilities are energy intensive, requiring customised design considerations, bringing them front of mind for many councils in their climate change response and ever-increasing energy prices. In response to these unique challenges, the Beca Aquatics team have created proprietary energy software to complete a simulation of energy consumption in these facilities, enabling a unique and adaptive approach to each building. Nick and the Beca Aquatics team are strong advocates for having more people, more active, more often. This philosophy is somewhat contrary to a highly efficient aquatic facility. Using their adaptive energy simulation software, the Beca Aquatics team, alongside forward-thinking clients, are creating economically sustainable and resilient facilities for the future.
