Biography

Larissa Davies is Professor of Applied Sports Economics at Manchester Metropolitan University. Larissa’s research focuses on the economic and social impact of sport. She specialises in using Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis to value outcomes that are difficult to measure, such as health, wellbeing, and social capital. Larissa has developed social impact models for measuring sport at the population level, and for specific sports, facility operators and infrastructure projects, both in the UK and internationally. She has worked extensively with a wide range of stakeholders across the sport sector, including national sports agencies, government, charities, private sector organisations and governing bodies. Larissa is part of a research consortium currently updating the social value model for England. Previously, she led an SROI study of recreational physical activity in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Biography

Prof Rochelle Eime is a Behavioural Epidemiologist, Professor of Sport Science, and internationally recognised in industry-based community sport research. Her research focuses on trends in participation including determinants of playing and drop-out, the health and wellbeing outcomes associated with participation, and recently the cost to play and deliver sport. Rochelle is the Director of the Physical Activity and Sport Insights research group, Federation University and is also Deputy Chair, Vicsport. Rochelle is ranked top 2% in the world of scientists – Sport Science , Elsevier and Stanford University citations listing.

Biography

As an experienced sports administrator, Troy Kirkham has a passion for community sport, and the wider societal benefits that it can provide. Troy has worked through the education sector as a Teacher and Deputy Principal, and then transitioned into the role of Executive Manager Game Development & Community Football with the West Australian Football Commission, overseeing the development and growth of AFL game development programs, school & community football across Western Australia. Troy is now the CEO of SportWest, the peak advocacy body for sport in Western Australia. Troy also had the opportunity to travel internationally for 3 months after being awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship, to research innovative and inclusive retention strategies for youth participants in community sport. Troy has four children that are all commencing their journey into community sport and is keen to ensure that they continue to reap the benefits that community sport and lifelong engagement in physical activity can provide.
