Biography
With more than 25 years' experience in events, sports administration and membership-based organisations, Grant has the ability to look at the big picture while delivering practical solutions. Grant is the co-founding Managing Director of Beyond the Break Consulting, a consultancy that specialises in sport delivery, working across communications, events and broadcast for some of Australia's leading National Sporting Organisations, major events and iconic brands.
Grant has served as a CEO and Senior Manager for well known NSOs including Swimming Australia, Surf Life Saving Australia and Equestrian Australia. Over the years Grant has specialised in event delivery, stakeholder communications, event readiness, governance reforms, sponsorship, marketing and broadcast across multiple major sporting events including Goodwill Games, Melbourne 2006 and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Nutri-Grain Ironman & Ironwoman Series, FINA World Swimming Championships, Australian Surf Life Saving Championships as well as helping sports create true legacy by conducting national and international events.

Biography
Dr Benson joined SIA as a member of the senior executive team in 2023, with agency responsibility for driving a nationally coordinated response to sport integrity issues in Australia. Dr Benson was the inaugural leader to the newly established Safety in Sport Division, strengthening the holistic integrity model to safeguard sport spanning all integrity threats. Dr Benson established and led the agency’s policy response to prevent and respond to integrity threats to women and girls across all levels of sport in Australia through SIA’s Empowering Women & Girls in Sport Integrity Program.
Prior to joining Sport Integrity Australia in 2023, Dr Benson was the Chief Forensic Scientist for the Australian Federal Police (AFP). In this role, she was responsible for executive leadership and management of the AFP Forensics Command providing strategic, operational and capability leadership across the AFP’s domestic and international policing responsibilities, and providing high-level strategic advice to the AFP Executive, Australian Government and external committees, including the Australia-New Zealand Counter-Terrorism Committee, Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency and INTERPOL.
In 2019, Dr Benson coordinated Australia’s law enforcement support following the volcanic eruption on White Island in New Zealand. Dr Benson was also instrumental in the forensic and disaster victim identification support offered to the Netherlands and Ukraine following the 2014 MH17 disaster.
Dr Benson studied at the University of Technology, Sydney and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Science) – Forensic Analysis of Explosives using Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (2009) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Chemistry – Forensic Science (2000).
In 2021, she was awarded the Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List; the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) Alumni Award for Excellence (Faculty of Science); and the UTS Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.

Biography
Carmel Guerra is the founder and CEO of the Centre for Multicultural Youth, Victoria’s first organisation dedicated to young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. With over 30 years’ experience in the community sector, Carmel has been a pioneering advocate for using sport as a vehicle for inclusion and social cohesion. Under her leadership, CMY launched CMSport in 2022—a national initiative bridging sport and multicultural communities.
Carmel has worked with many sporting codes including AFL, soccer, netball, basketball, rugby, and surf life saving, and played a key role in founding the National Diversity and Inclusion in Sport Conference. She chairs the Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network (MYAN) and sits on multiple boards. Her contributions have been widely recognised, receiving the Order of Australia Medal, the Victorian Premier’s Award for Community Harmony, and an Honorary Doctorate from Deakin University.

Biography
Across the past 30+ years, Richard has volunteered and worked across multiple roles, sports, metro and regional, domestic and international. From cricket to touch football to netball and water polo he has held a wide range of roles including development officer to head and assistant coach roles at club, state and national level, referee, president, high performance manager, national talent manager and CEO before undertaking his current role. He is energised by doing meaningful work that makes a difference to the experience people have with sport, regardless of their role, age, background, location or ability level. He is a system thinker who understands that nothing we do in sport, occurs in isolation and it takes a collaborative, system wide approach to ensure we can ensure sport can provide great experiences for everyone and that sport remains a valued and relevant part of the Australian lifestyle.
